CytoSorbents Corp (OTC Bulletin Board Market:CTSO)

This is a penny stock recommended for review by a friend.

CytoSorbents Corp

This company makes a cartridge that can plug into existing hemodialysis machines and filter out some of the harmful chemicals produced during septic shock. If this proves an effective treatment it will doubtlessly become the standard of care (meaning it will become the expected and required treatment, like antibiotics for a staph infection).

I don't doubt that they can filter out Cytokines, and have no doubt that it will be helpful, however I'm not convinced it'll be a definitive treatment. . . although in conjunction with existing treatments it may well be able to convert the ~60%+ death rate in Sepsis to the 20% or less range. They have EU approval to start using their device on a trial basis. If they pass the randomized trial, and sadly I have no inside information on how well or poorly it's going, they will have an extremely valuable product sell-able to an impressive range of 1st world (per my definition) hospitals world wide. The term "cytosorb" in that case will probably then be as well known as "Stents", so, fairly huge. If their trial patients don't markedly improve, and in clinical trials patients often don't (often because experimental drugs & implanted devices are only allowed to be used on people who are assured to die) they'll go back to the drawing board an this stock will go to Zero. However implanted devices and experimental drugs are different than the invasiveness of dialysis . . . which is often today used in last ditch efforts to keep people in multi-organ failure, often caused by sepsis. So if the product works at all, it should work pretty well and get approval.

I'm not sure how much that's worth to you, but to me it's worth 15000 shares at $0.075 which happens to be 0.014% of the outstanding shares. I might go up to 8.5 cents, but that's a tougher sell. If their EU research results come out positive, I'll probably be a buyer - even though it'll probably be a year or more before payers (insurance companies) start compensating hospitals for it. If the results are positive enough, it'll be worth owning very early on. It seems as though they also have a tendency to print shares like Zimbabwe prints money which isn't inspiring.

Thanks for the tip Marcel, it's been an interesting read in nothing else.
